In Food Technology students combine practical and technical skills with creative thinking to design and make their products.
Project work and stand-alone lessons are used to develop our students’ skills.
The Design and Technology courses offered at Key Stage 4 are AQA Food and Nutrition. This is taken over 2 years, include a controlled assessment module (aka coursework) and a final written examination at the end of the 2 years. The controlled assessment module allows students to design, make and develop individual products within a set design context. Innovative, imaginative and demanding products that demonstrate creativity, flair and originality are rewarded with higher grades. This module contributes 60% of the final grade.
