The ICT department is made up of two full-time members of staff: Subject Leader and ICT Teacher. The department uses 2 fully equipped specialist ICT suites with further ICT equipped rooms and laptops available for use across the curriculum.
ICT is always rapidly changing and has an impact on all of our lives. All students have at least one discrete ICT lesson per week in Years 7 to 11. During their lesson, students not only develop skills to attain qualifications by the end of Year 11, but also to support other curriculum areas.
At Key Stage 4 all students have one ICT lesson weekly during which the ECDL ICT course is followed thus allowing them to gain one GCSE equivalent by the end of Year 11. OCR GCSE Computing is also offered as an Option for those students who would like to develop skills in programming, and understanding of computer systems.
At Key Stage 5 we follow the BTEC Level 3 Computing course. The course covers, Principles of computer systems, Fundamentals of Computer Systems, It Systems and Security and Computer Games Development.
